Making Music For The Multitudes

My name is PG, but I also go by the name Alemaa (and am also known to some as blackmadonna). My real first name is Pamela, last name beginning with a G. I have been about music my whole life; vocally, lyrically, and sonically. I started playing piano at four and drums at 14. I started singing seriously at the same age. I've accomplished many things but music was all I ever really wanted to do in life.

I grew up in New York City, in Queens, with my mother, my younger sister, and my grandmother. My mother was all about the arts; she was a nurse, but an aspiring fashion designer who loved all the arts. She was instrumental in making me fall in love with music. When I was about 4 or 5 years old, she sat me down with a book of music instruments, and played Ravel's "Bolero", and as each instrument played, she pointed it out. I was hooked. Her music collection was very eclectic; she loved everyone from Billie Holiday, to Johnny Cash, to Isaac Hayes, to Earth, Wind and Fire, to Chopin.

I didn't begin paying my dues until I settled in San Antonio, Texas. I looked for background vocal work and landed jobs singing in many cover bands including pop/rock band Meanwhile, r&b/funk/hip-hop/soul band One Nation, and acoustic rock bands Sometimes Salvation (with Adan and Vince of Flesh Electric)  and A Melody Less Ordinary. I started a progressive rock band called Consumed and recorded original music with 2 brilliant musicians, Sean Smith and bassist premier Randy Lujan. I sang background for a short tour of Texas with 2 reggae artists, Tristan Palma and The Buffalo Soldier, who were backed by the band One Destiny. I also toured with renowned reggae/salsa singer Tibisay Wong with her band Izap. I was featured on some songs for 2 rappers; one named Sett, on the song "City Lights". The other rapper's name was NRg...this would change everything.

NRg asked me to sing on his album, "Ground Runnin", so I came to the studio and I met his producer, Skip Wayne. I ended up singing on 4 songs ("Runaway", "Move", "Fire 2012" and "Jihad"). Skip liked my work and my work ethic so much, he offered to produce my first album. I took him up on it. The result is my upcoming album, "Alemaadelic". It's 90's style r&b, but on the eclectic side of it...there's a taste of rock, a taste of hip hop, and all of my soul. It's my life's work...and I hope you enjoy it.
